If a plate of steaming hot momos with red chutney and mayonnaise are placed in front of you, what would you do? If you are a foodie like us, then you would gobble it up in minutes! There is an undeniable love for momos among foodies, especially in Delhi. Momos have taken the capital by storm - these stuffed dumplings have incorporated the flavours of the city giving us fusion momo recipes like tandoori momos, Manchurian momos, butter chicken momos and more. Thanks to the culinary experimentation of the street vendors, we were able to receive such tantalizing flavours of momos and today, we encountered yet another momo experiment. We all have seen kulhad wali chai but today we saw kulhad wali momos! Don't believe us? Take a look:
In the video, the street vendor made a masala using capsicum, corn, onions, various sauces and seasoning. Then he added the momos to the mixture and mixed it till they were lathered in masala. Next, he placed the marinated momos in a kulhad and garnished it generously with cheese; then he baked them in the oven. The video was uploaded by Instagram based food blogger @paidaishi_foodie; the video has over 1.6 million views and 87k likes. These kulhad momos can be found in Delhi, at Rabbit Lee café in Krishna Nagar.
The internet was not happy to see momos in a kulhad. One momo fan commented, "What a stupid concept. Har cheez hi kulhad me dal dete ho," while others critiqued how cheese has managed to find its way to every street food, even in a kulhad! Clearly, kulhad momos don't have a fan base among desi foodies. What do you think about the kulhad momos? Do you agree with the internet? Or do you think that kulhad momos deserve a second chance?
