The Sikh community across the globe have recently celebrated one of their biggest festivals of the year, Guru Nanak Jayanti (on October 8, 2022). The day is observed as Prakash Utsav, marking the birth anniversary of the first teacher of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak. Every year, the day is observed with much fervour and enthusiasm. Devotees throng nearby gurdwaras to offer their prayers, do 'sewa' and enjoy kada prasad. Some people also organise 'langar' - a community meal - and feed devotees and the needy, as a part of the celebration.
Recently, a gurdwara in Chandigarh made it to the headlines by baking a massive 553-kg cake to mark the 553rd Prakash Parv. The video of the cake was shared by a handle named '1000thingsinludhiana' on Instagram and in no time, it took the internet by storm. "553 kg cake prepared and distributed among people as langar on Guru Nanak Jayanti at a Gurdwara Sahib near sector 19, Chandigarh. Waheguru Ji," the video caption read. Take a look:
