About Barley and Moong Daal Khichdi : Barley and Moong dal khichdi is a very simple and quick meal recipe. This meal is low in fat, cholesterol and sodium but high in flavour and nutrition that will keep your energy level high and also helps in keeping your heart healthy.

Ingredients of Barley And Moong Dal Khichdi

  • 1/2 Tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1/2 cup Moong dal (soaked)
  • 1/2 cup Barley(soaked)
  • 1/2 cup French Beans
  • 1/2 cup Carrot
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

How to Make Barley And Moong Dal Khichdi

  • 1.Take a thick bottomed vessel. And add a teaspoon of ghee.
  • 2.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafetida , turmeric and curry leaves.
  • 3.Add finely chopped vegetables and stir fry for 2 minutes. Then add soaked moong dal and barley.
  • 4.Pour water and keep stirring the mixture.
  • 5.Sprinkle salt as per your taste when the barley pearls and moong dal become soft.
  • 6.Garnish with ghee, black pepper powder and finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • 7.Serve fresh and hot!

Recipe Notes

Sprinkle some chaat masala for a tangy flavour.
