Ingredients of Bengali-Style Pepper Chicken

  • chicken curry cut pieces
  • ¼ cup curd
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2-3 whole dry red chillies
  • ½ tsp dhania powder
  • A handful of cashew nuts
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 ½ tbsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tsp mustard oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as required

How to Make Bengali-Style Pepper Chicken

First, marinate the chicken with curd and ginger-garlic paste. Keep it in the refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours.

Now soak the cashew nuts in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes, and then grind them to form a smooth paste.

In a pan, heat mustard oil and add dry red chillies, black peppercorns, and chopped onion. Saute for about 2–3 minutes, or until the onions turn golden brown.

Add the marinated chicken and mix well. Next, add the coriander powder and salt and continue cooking over a low flame.

Finally, add the prepared cashew paste and black pepper powder. Mix well and add some warm water. Cover the lid and cook until the chicken is fully cooked.
6.
Sprinkle some more black pepper on top, and serve hot!
