Cheesy and delicious puff pie recipe. A creamy mushroom and tomato stuffing surrounded by a crisp pie base.

Ingredients of Cheese Puff Pie

  • 125 ml water
  • 50 gm butter
  • 60 gm flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 gm cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 Tbsp mustard powder
  • Grated nutmeg, a pinch
  • 1 Tbsp grated cheese, for baking
  • For the filling:
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tbsp chopped spring onion
  • 1 Tbsp garlic paste
  • 4 tomatoes - peeled and chopped
  • 200 gm sliced, sauteed mushrooms
  • Salt and pepper chopped
  • Garden herbs to garnish

How to Make Cheese Puff Pie

  • 1.In a pan boil water and butter.
  • 2.Once the butter melts, stir in the flour.
  • 3.Now beat in the eggs.
  • 4.Add cheese, seasoning and spice.
  • 5.Spoon into buttered, ovenproof dishes leaving the center empty.
  • For the sauce:
  • 1.Heat oil, stir in spring onion and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • 2.Now add the tomatoes. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 3.Add sauteed mushrooms and seasoning. Cool.
  • 4.Spoon the sauce into center of the pastry.
  • 5.Garnish with cheese.
  • 6.Bake at 190 degrees C for 20 minutes till golden in colour.
  • 7.Serve garnished with herbs.
