Ingredients of Cheese Sauce

  • 350 ml milk 1/4 onion- sliced 1 sliced carrot 1 stick celery 3-4 parsley stalks 3-4 mushrooms 1 tsp mustard powder 1/4 tsp peppercorns grated nutmeg 1 bay leaf salt 25 gm flour 1 tsp flour To finish 2-3 tbsp grated cheese 1 tsp prepared mustard coarsely ground black pepper

How to Make Cheese Sauce

  • 1.Boil milk with onion, carrot, celery parsley, mushrooms, mustard powder, peppercorns and herbs. Set aside for 30 minutes and strain. Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in flour. Cook for 2 minutes before pouring in reheated milk. Simmer for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients. Serve with vol au vents, patties or baked cauliflower.
