How to make chicken keema idli

Chicken keema is an ultimate non-vegetarian inclusion to the South Indian cuisine list. This recipe is not just unique but also quite healthy.

Ingredients of Chicken Keema Idli

  • For Idli Batter
  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 1 cup Blended Rice
  • to taste Salt
  • Oil to grease
  • For Keema
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp Chopped onion
  • 3 tbsp Chopped green chillies
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • to taste Chilli power
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 medium Chopped Tomato
  • 250 gms Minced chicken
  • 2 tbsp Chopped fresh coriander
  • 1/2 cup Water

How to Make Chicken Keema Idli

For Idli batter

Blend soaked dal, rice and salt together in a blender

For Keema

Heat oil in a pan, then add cumin seeds. Once the seeds splutter, add onions and cook until brown.
Add green chillies and ginger garlic paste and keep stirring the mixture.
Add all the spices turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala and cumin powder.
Add tomatoes and some water. Mash them together and let them cook until smooth gravy.
Add chicken mince and combine it with the spices properly. Let it cook for some time.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and allow the keema to cool.

For Assembling :

Grease idli maker moulds with oil and pour one layer of idli batter in the idli maker mould.
Add chicken keema on top of the first layer.
Add the second layer of batter over the keema and steam the idlis for 10-15 minutes.
Serve it hot with coconut chutney and sambhar.
