Rings of onions coated in an egg-milk based batter and fried till crisp. These golden onion rings are a perfect accompaniment with burgers and fish or can be eaten as a snack.

Ingredients of Fried Onion Rings

  • 1 cup sifted plain flour
  • 1 3/4 Tbsp salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp baking soda
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp salad oil
  • 1 egg white (folded in last)
  • Onions
  • Oil for deep frying

How to Make Fried Onion Rings

  • 1.Peel and slice onion 1/4 inch thick.
  • 2.Separate the rings and cover with cold water for 30 minutes.
  • 3.Drain rings completely and wipe dry.
  • 4.Mix all ingredients except egg white and onion and oil for deep frying into a batter.
  • 5.Dip each ring in the batter and deep fry in oil till brown and crisp.
