1.
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2.
In a larger mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast mixture, honey and olive oil. Mix everything together until a dough forms.
3.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it for around 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
5.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide it into equal portions (around 8 pieces) and shape each portion into a round bun. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the buns with an egg wash or a little olive oil. Sprinkle sesame seeds or other preferred toppings.
7.
Cover the buns with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
