Boiled karelas are combined with potatoes, ginger, garlic, khoya and gram flour and pan fried on a skewer until crispy. These karela seekh kebabs make for a delicious starter to serve at a dinner party.

Ingredients of Karela Seekh Kebab

  • 2 Bitter gourds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp Chopped ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Powdered black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Khoya
  • 1/2 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Minced garlic
  • 200 gm Grated potato
  • to taste Salt

De-seed the karela and boil them. Soak in cold water to cool down. Finely chop the boil karela and add to a bowl.

Next, add the boiled potatoes, minced garlic, ginger, crushed khoya and gram flour. Prepare a soft and mushy dough. Season it with pepper, salt and cumin seeds.

Wrap the dough around a skewer, just like a seekh kebab. Heat a pan and add ghee. Cook the wrapped seekh kebab till they are crisp. The karela seekh kebabs are ready!
