How to make Millet Empanadas

These millet empanadas are a powerhouse of energy and protein. It is a combination of jowar flour, tomato with seasoning of chopped garlic, oregano and pepper.

Ingredients of Millet Empanadas

  • 1 Cup Jowar flour
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 1 cup hot boiling water
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 4 small Chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Chopped garlic
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Oregano
  • to taste Red paprika
  • 1 cup Boiled corn
  • 1 tbsp Cheese spread
  • 1 tbsp ketchup

How to Make Millet Empanadas

  • For the base wrapper
  • 1.In a bowl add 1 cup jowar flour, 1tbsp oil and pinch salt. Mix this with 1 cup hot boiling water.
  • 2.Once slightly cooled, knead into a medium dough and let it rest for 15-20 mins covered with a cloth.
  • For the filling
  • 1.Heat olive oil in a pan, saute chopped garlic along with chopped tomatoes. Cook till the tomatoes are soft and well cooked
  • 2.Add salt, pepper and oregano as per taste along with red paprika and later add boiled corn, cheese spread along with ketchup and give it a good mix.
  • 3.Now shape the dough into equal sized balls and roll it out thinly using a parchment paper.
  • 4.Using a round cutter, cut the shape and add the filling in the center.
  • 5.Apply water on the edges and turn over from one end to create a semicircular pocket.
  • 6.To seal the edges take a folk and create impressions thereby giving it a pattern as well.
  • 7.Shallow fry these or Air Fry them for 20 mins at 160 degree Celsius and serve hot.
