Ingredients of Muttai Thokku

  • 4 Boiled eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups onion, chopped
  • 2 1.2 cups tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 gGreen chillies (slit)
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 Bay leaves
  • 1 pieces kalpasi, small
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • A pinch of salt

How to Make Muttai Thokku

Heat oil in a wok and add mustard seeds, cinnamon, fennel seeds and kalpasi along with curry leaves. Saute well.

Add onion, salt and bay leaf. Saute till onion are brown and soft. Then add tomatoes along with ginger-garlic paste.

Now add all the spices including chilli powder, garam masala, black pepper, turmeric and green chillies. Saute for about 10 minutes.

Now make small slits in the boiled eggs and add it to the masala.

Let it simmer for a while and serve hot
