How to Make Sarva Pindi (Tappala Chekka)
Sarva Pindi (Tappala Chekka) Recipe: Sarva Pindi is a crispy and lightly spicy pancake-like snack from Telangana. It is also called Tappala Chekka, Ginnappa or Tapala Pindi. Rice flour, chana dal, green chillies, ginger, sesame seeds and other simple ingredients are mixed to form the dough for this delicacy. This wholesome treat is roasted and best enjoyed with sweet and spicy chutneys.

Ingredients of Sarva Pindi (Tappala Chekka)
- 2 Cup rice flour
- 2 cup chana dal
- 1 tbsp roasted peanuts, crushed
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 green chillies, finely chopped
- 1 sprig of curry leaves
- 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp white sesame seeds
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil/ ghee
- Oil for roasting

Soak the chana dal for around half an hour. Drain the water and coarsely crush the dal along with the roasted peanuts and curry leaves.

In a bowl, combine the rice flour and chana dal-peanut mixture along with the rest of the ingredients (except oil).

Add water, little by little, to form a smooth dough. Add 2 tbsp oil/ ghee and knead well. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Break off small pieces of the dough and flatten them till you get a thick pancake-like shape.

Heat oil on a tawa/ pan. Place the flattened dough on top and poke small holes into its surface. Sprinkle a little oil into the holes.

Cover and let the dough cook on a medium flame for around 5 minutes. Then flip and roast (uncovered) until the other side also turns crisp.
7.
Serve the sarva pindi hot with tamarind chutney, hari chutney, spicy garlic chutney or any other.
