Ingredients of Sheng Jian Bao

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp Instant Yeast
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Warm water
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 250 gram Pork
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 tsp White Pepper
  • 4 medium Green Onions (Sliced)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil

How to Make Sheng Jian Bao

Combine All purpose flour, cornstarch, instant yeast and sugar together. Stir to mix well.

Slowly pour into warm water and keep mixing the dough until tight. Form small dough flakes

Pour in vegetable oil and keep mixing until the oil is absorbed.

Transfer the dough into a separate bowl and cover it with a plastic wrap. Let it rest.

Add soya sauce, salt, sugar and white pepper to the pork in a bowl. Mix it well until all the liquid is absorbed. Now, add green onions and sesame oil. Mix well.

Cut the dough strip into 12 pieces and gently use a circular motion to round up each strip then flatten it with your palm and roll it with a roller

Add 1 tablespoon of the filling in the dough wrapper and start wrapping the bun in a shape of a momo. Repeat this step with other pieces of the dough
8.
Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium low heat and serve it hot with your favourite dip.

Recipe Notes

It is important to mix the filling really well, so the meat will absorb all the liquid and bind together.
