Providing you with an immersive experience of the lush green forests and safari in Africa, Ophelia at The Ashok in Chanakyapuri is revamped and has relaunched with a brand new concept. The new concept has warm, inviting and earthy tones. Inspired by nature in Africa, the restaurant has elements of the jungle spread throughout creating a stark contrast from the previous floral and cool aesthetic. Nestled beautifully in the tony neighborhood of Chanakyapuri, Ophelia returns as a whole new-haven of imaginative food, extraordinary drinks and rustic sophistication.
The essence is what is most inviting, a place for rejuvenation, a place that feels like a getaway in your own home city. Given that nature is a predominant theme that latently meanders through the interiors, the outside is as exclusive and opulent. A completely sensorial experience, the seating outside references the Great Outdoors. The colour scheme of the curtains, upholstery and the cabana look to soothing neutrals like a shade card of warm greys, beige and off-white. A spot-texture paint pattern akin to animal skin enmeshes the space, a gentle nod to an effortless synergy with the wild. Denser, taller, and wilder landscaping imbues the space with lushness. The doors and windows connecting the indoor and outdoor areas have been made wider to visually experience both, no matter where you are seated, you are one with the vision of the landscape. A cocooning embrace for celebrations, get-togethers, or just a grand meal on a starry night, the great outdoors at Ophelia is truly great!
For the launch, restaurateurs and Co-founders Akshay Anand and Ashish Begwani say, "We're absolutely elated to bring to you a revamped Ophelia, based on a completely new theme. Our aim with Ophelia has always been to make it a place where people get to not only relish the food but also enjoy the ambience, aesthetics and the experience that comes with it."
The featured cuisine at Ophelia is the best of global foods with a touch of modern sensibilities. Seasonal produce, contemporary techniques, innovative pairings and playing with traditions is the mood of the new Ophelia kitchen. Known for bringing the best of Mediterranean and Southeast Asian flavours, these cuisines remain predominant albeit with more imagination and a more experiential take on food. With winter on the anvil, the restaurant's menu takes off from the flavours that first captured everyone's attention: hearty large plates that are complete flavour bombs and small plates that add warmth to the nip in the air.
Ophelia's extensive menu is an homage to the flavours of how memorable meals should be. Indulge in winter warmers that take you from the heart of Rome to the fringes of Japan with soups like Mushroom Cappuccino topped with Dill foam, truffle oil and an umami rich mushroom confit or the Shiro Miso, a tribute to Japanese White miso, green onion and wakame. The salads showcase seasonal favourites like the Beets & Burrata, a delicate Beetroot carpaccio with opulent burrata cheese, grapefruit, balsamic vinaigrette and mixed greens.
Speaking of carpaccio, the 'Raw' menu includes fine dishes like Yellowfin Tuna Carpaccio with Avocado mayo, dill, olive oil and Salmon Sashimi, lightly flavoured with Kikkoman, wasabi and served with pickled ginger. With a wide selection of sushi, dimsum and baos, the menu is completed with wood fired pizzas, Turkish pide and mezze. The highlights of the large plates focus on Thai curries, Japanese Katsu, Nordic Stroganoff and for exotic dishes like New Zealand Lamb Chops and Chicken Cordon Bleu. Close a memorable meal at Ophelia with delightful desserts that include, Apple Crumble Cheesecake and Baklava Sundae.
Pair your meal with an extensive selection of wines from across the world, from French Cabernet Sauvignons to Italian Chiantis and Argentinian Malbecs. With eclectic Single Malts and blended Scotch, the bar also boasts of Mezcal and a host of aperitifs.
