Constipation is a common problem faced by people of all age groups. Apart from just making you feel full, this issue can also be troublesome in various other ways. It affects your system, mood, and thus, basically, everything you do. Some of the common reasons behind constipation could be not consuming enough fibrous food items (including fruits and vegetables), not drinking enough water, stress, and not exercising among others. 1) Yoghurt + flax seeds powder: The health expert stated that yoghurt contains a strain of friendly bacteria, or probiotics, called Bifidobacterium lactis, which helps regulate the digestive system. Whereas, flaxseeds are rich sources of soluble fibre. Soluble fibre dissolves in water, making stools softer and easier to pass.
2) Amla Juice: It's good to have about 30 ml of amla juice mixed with a glass of water first thing in the morning. It helps boost digestion and ease constipation.
3) Oat Bran: Oat bran is high in both soluble and insoluble fibres, which may help relieve constipation and support bowel health.
4) Ghee + Milk: You must know that ghee is a rich source of butyric acid which improves intestinal metabolism and helps in the movement of stools. So, how can you consume this? Just take 1 teaspoon of ghee in a cup of hot milk right before you are going to sleep. This is an effective way of reducing constipation the next morning.
5) Leafy Greens: Everyone is aware of the importance of greens in our diet. They are loaded with broccoli and boost digestion. Greens such as spinach, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli are rich in fibre and work as great sources of folate and vitamins C and K. These greens help add bulk and weight to stools, which makes them easier to pass through the gut.
6) Water: This is the first thing you must consider while suffering from constipation. Drink plenty of water as increasing liquid intake may improve constipation, especially when consumed in combination with a higher-fibre diet.
