Officials said the patient was being treated at a private medical facility for high grade fever and cold for the past few days and was referred to the Sanjay Gandhi Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Wednesday where he died later at night. His samples were tested positive for swine flu and his neighbors, relatives and family are now being examined for any infection, a doctor told.
"There is no need to panic, health officials across the state capital are vigilant and are keeping an eye on patients showing H1N1 like symptoms" chief medical official (CMO) of Lucknow S.N.S. Yadav said.
This is the second death in the state reported due to swine flu this year. Last week a 60-year-old from Nirala Nagar locality died due to swine flu.
