Here Are 4 Foods That Can Keep You Warm In Winters:
1. Desi Ghee
It is extremely easy to include ghee into your diet. You can add a spoonful on top of your vegetables, apply it generously on your rotis or probably cook your parathas with it. Ghee is nutritionally superior to other oils and fats because of its medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) content. According to Lovneet Batra, MCFAs present in ghee, “are absorbed directly by the liver and burned to provide energy.” In addition, ghee exclusively contains butyric acid, which contributes to its distinct flavour, easy digestion and stronger immune system.
2. Sesame Seeds
Consuming a small handful of sesame seeds can offer tons of health benefits. Rich in fibre, sesame seeds facilitate better digestion and smoother bowel movement. They also assist in tackling the issue of constipation. “A bioactive compound present in Sesame seeds known as sesamol is responsible for inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory chemicals,” the nutritionist said.
3. Ginger, Mulethi, and Tulsi Tea
The next food on the nutritionist's list is a winter-friendly beverage. Bring together the goodness of ginger, mulethi, and tulsi in a cup. After all, there is nothing better than homemade herbal tea. All three ingredients have their own distinctive health benefits. While ginger can help your body warm from the inside out, mulethi lends it a sweet taste, as well as its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. And, tulsi is the ultimate rescue to all “winter-triggered sedentary diseases.”
4. Bajra/Ragi
Bajra can be included in the diet in more than one way. From relishing it as a salad or rice, you can always roll out bajra rotis and flatbreads. In winter, include bajra into your diet as it is loaded with antioxidant properties, which help in fighting against infection, the anti-ageing process and rejuvenating the skin.
This winter, make sure you get these foods out on your plate.
