As we enter the much-awaited 'shaadi' season, we prepare ourselves for all the loaded meals we are going to partake in the slew of wedding events we might attend. Food is of paramount importance in any wedding function. That's precisely why hosts go that extra mile to ensure serving delicious foods. We definitely love gorging on those calorie-laden foods in our celebratory mode, but our digestion goes for a toss. To keep enjoying the high-octane festive vibe, the least you can do is protect your stomach and gut. There's nothing a good diet can't do. Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, who is famed for her huge clientele including the likes of Bollywood celebs Kareena Kapoor Khan and Varun Dhawan, dishes out some diet secrets for healthy digestion during the wedding season.
Rujuta Diwekar suggests 3 foods that may keep the digestion healthy during the wedding season -
Chaas is spiced buttermilk, which is a light and healthy drink made of curd. Curd, as we all know, is a great source of probiotics that can improve gut health. It contains a range of good bacteria that can replace bad bacteria residing in the intestines. Rujuta suggests adding asafoetida (hing) and black salt (kala namak) to your glass of chaas, which might minimise bloating due to gas formation and also reduce the risk of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
It helps build immunity as it contains a good amount of flavonoids and antioxidants. Rujuta stresses on having 1 tsp of Chyawanprash every day before going to bed. Bonus - It may also improve skin health and keep it clear and supple.
3. Methi Laddoo
Methi or fengureek is prized for its high nutrient profile. This laddoo mithai made with jaggery, ghee and dry ginger is a healthy alternative to whet your sweet cravings. Eat this laddoo on those fast-paced wedding days, either in the morning or as an evening snack. According to Rujuta, this laddoo may help ease constipation and bring relief from stomach cramps. Not just this, eating this laddoo may also give you shiny, frizz-free and lustrous hair you always dreamt of.
Whether you are stepping out almost every day to attend one wedding function after another or spending days together eating heavy foods at a destination wedding; keep these foods handy to keep your digestion running smoothly.
