Korean cuisine is not for the faint-hearted. Reason? Their dishes are a fiery combination of spices and bold flavours. Recently, Robert Pattinson tried some authentic spicy Korean food. Robert went to Seoul with Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon-ho to promote their upcoming film Mickey 17. The director took Robert on this Korean food adventure. In a clip posted by Bong Joon-ho on Instagram, Robert is seen trying an array of items at a local eatery. Despite it being challenging to eat such spicy food, Robert pushed through while laughing, making the most of this cultural exchange experience.
Robert Pattinson kickstarted his epicurean escapade with a bowl of tteokbokki. Prepared from rice cakes, this dish is simmered in a sweet and spicy sauce. Gochujang (Korean red chilli paste) and gochugaru (chili flakes) are added for that extra dose of zing. Although Bong Joon-ho assures Robert that the tteokbokki is “mild”, it is later revealed that the director pulled up a prank on the actor.
Robert Pattinson approves of the taste but reaches out from a glass of water, unable to tolerate the spice levels. “I'm such a baby, I'm literally sweating already,” he admits. Other items displayed on the table were dumpling sticks, Korean fried chicken and kimchi.
Social media users were quick to react to the post:
“You guys look like you're having so much fun! The mild one lol,” commented a person.
A user called the food outing a “spicy moment.”
An individual found Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon-ho's banter to be the “best bromance”.
“This is hilarious,” pointed out a fan.

“Will he be Mickey 18 if expended by the spiciness?” asked someone else sarcastically.
“BTW tomatoes or ice creams are the best when your mouth is burning,” suggested a foodie.
“You have to work your way up in hotness. I started with Ethiopian then Sichuan. But Korean is spicy. I love the Tteokbokki!” read a remark.
We hope Robert Pattinson embarks on more savoury quests in the future. Agreed?
