There are times when we go to a grocery store to pick up a favourite candy or snack but find that those items have disappeared. At times, distributors pull products due to poor sales, health concerns, scarce supplies and other factors. Every year, handfuls of our favourite snacks, drinks, and general food items quietly disappear from grocery stores, leaving us confused and longing for them. It could be one of those wheel-shaped onion rings that used to be your constant companion on lazy Sunday mornings while you watched your favourite cartoons, or that pink-coloured bubble gum with which you got collectable cards of cricketers for free.
Whenever someone mentions about such food items, it sends us down memory lane. A Reddit user has asked what discontinued food items we would like to have back on our plate and the thread has been getting a lot of attention.
A number of people have come forward to share their food experiences and also disclosed the food items they would want back. The thread has got over 30,000 comments.
One person, with the username ‘Ranger3229', shared that there's a running joke in their family that whenever they start liking something, the food item disappears. The person noted a few examples like egg muffin tops etc.
Egg muffins are baked eggs laden with fresh vegetables, meat or/and cheese. A burrito is a dish in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine consisting of a flour tortilla wrapped into a sealed cylindrical shape around various ingredients. It's also easy to cook.
Another user, ‘Imitation88', shared that Butterfingers now don't taste like they used to. “As a kid I remember them being flaky and almost falling apart when you bit into them and now every time I've decided to give one a shot they're not flaky at all and they stick to my teeth something fierce.”
‘Crackiest_Duck' said McDonald's fried apple pies are missed the most. The aroma of a freshly baked apple pie is enough to quench the dessert cravings of food cynosure. It can also be prepared at home with raisins. It's a double crust pie with cinnamon-flavoured apple filling, finished with a raisin relish.
