Vada pav is a beloved street food from Maharashtra that now has loyal fans all over the country. Given its popularity, it is no surprise that street food vendors like to come up with fusion versions. However, some experiments may go too far and lose the essence of the dish. A recent viral video may be cited as an example of this. In the Instagram reel, we see a food vendor declaring that one cannot find a dish like this anywhere else in Delhi. She explains that she is serving a sweet version of vada pav, called "chocolate paan vada pav." She takes a pav and slits it in half. She then showcases the fillings, which are kept together in a box. The stuffing consists of cherries, chocolate paan and gulkand. She proceeds to layer them inside the slit pav, calling the paan the "vada" for this dish.
