About Bele Saaru Recipe: Goodness of arhar dal cooked in an interesting mix of spices and tamarind pulp, topped with a zesty tadka!

Ingredients of Bele Saaru

  • 1/2 Cup arhar dal , soaked
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 Tomato (cut into cubes)
  • 1/2-1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1-2 onion (cut into cubes)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 2 Green chillies (slit)
  • Tamarind pulp (as needed)
  • For tadka:
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 6-8 Curry leaves
  • 1-2 Red chilli
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 garlic, chopped
  • 2 tsp oil (preferably coconut oil)

How to Make Bele Saaru

  • 1.Boil soaked dal up to 50 percent, with turmeric and salt.
  • 2.Add tomato, ginger, onion and green chillies to it and boil well. Whisk the dal well.
  • 3.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic and red chilli and wait till it splutter.
  • 4.Add tadka to the saar and relish.
