Guar ki phalli or cluster beans tossed with chillies and shredded coconut for a yummy vegetarian dish.

Ingredients of Ghorikai Uppakari

  • 500 gm cluster beans
  • 75 gm oil
  • 5 gm mustard seeds
  • 5 gm channa dal
  • 5 gm red chillies
  • 2 gm curry leaves
  • 3 gm asafoetida
  • 5 gm green chillies
  • 50 gm coconut
  • Salt

How to Make Ghorikai Uppakari

  • 1.Cut the beans into fine slices, blanch and set aside.
  • 2.Grate the coconut and slit the green chillies.
  • 3.Cut the red chillies into 1/2 inch pieces.
  • 4.Heat oil and add the mustard seeds, when crackling, add the dal. When the dal turns golden in color add the curry leaves, asafoetida and green chillies and saute for 1 minute.
  • 5.Add the beans and the salt. Sprinkle 10 ml of water, cover and cook on a low flame.
  • 6.When the beans are done, add the coconut and stir for 2 minutes.
