Ingredients of Aankur Tondak
- 1/2 Cup White / Green peas
- Onion - 1 big (chopped), 1medium (sliced
- 1 cup Scrapped coconut
- 3 Cloves
- Cinnamon - 1/4
- Star anise (seeds removed) - 2 to 3 petals
- A pinch of Fennel seeds
- 3-4 Green cardamom seeds
- 6-8 Peppercorns
- 1 1/4 tsp Corriander seeds
- Ginger - a thin slice
- 2 or as per your requirement Red chillies
- 1/8 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Oil (preferably coconut)
- Tamarind - a marble sized bal
- Salt to taste
How to Make Aankur Tondak

Wash and soak peas for at least 5 hrs or overnight.

Pressure cook peas and keep aside.

Heat a pan and roast spices till they give out aroma, red chillies and corriander seeds.

Fry sliced onion in the same oil till golden brown.
5.
Add coconut and fry till coconut turns slightly brownish on medium flame.

Grind all the fried ingredients with ginger, turmeric powder and tamarind to a fine paste by adding 1/2 a cup of water.

Wash aakur and chop them, discard 1/4'' of the lower end.

In a thick bottomed pan cook aakur by adding sufficient water, when it comes to boil add (optional –boil potato) slice onion and ground paste.

When they are almost cooked, add peas and salt, cook till done.

Add salt as per taste

Simmer for 2-3 min.
12.
Serve with pav, bread, chapati etc.
