Ingredients of Greek Honey Cake

  • 100 ml Honey
  • 50 ml Water
  • 50 ml Orange Juice
  • 60 gm Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 100 ml Honey
  • 113 gm Butter
  • 50 gm Yogurt
  • 3 ml Vanilla Essence
  • 3 ml Almond Essence
  • 150 gm Flour
  • 105 gm Almond Flour
  • 10 gm Orange Zest
  • 40 gm Baking Powder

How to Make Greek Honey Cake

Preheat the oven to 350 degree C, grease and flour a 9 inch square pan.
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, orange rind and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until everything is well combined. Stir in the walnuts.
Pour batter into the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for 40 mins or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow it to cook for 15 mins. Cut into diamond shapes and pour honey syrup over the cake.
For the honey syrup: In a saucepan, combine honey, 1 cup sugar and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 mins. Stir in lemon juice, bring to boil and cook for 2 mins.
