About Gur Ke Chawal Recipe: Gur ke chawal is a rice dish, sweetened with jaggery. It is generally eaten as is but you can have it a little warm milk also.

Ingredients of Gur Ke Chawal

  • 1 Cup sela chawal (parboiled rice), picked, washed and soaked for about an hour
  • 300 gms jaggery, pounded to coarse powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 4 Green cardamoms
  • 1/4 cup clarified butter

How to Make Gur Ke Chawal

  • 1.Bring the water to a boil and add the drained out rice, cloves and cardamoms.
  • 2.When it comes to a boil, lower the heat and simmer till the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  • 3.In a heavy based pan, heat the ghee and add the rice and mix well.
  • 4.Lower the heat, and mix in the jaggery. Cover and leave over a tawa/griddle for 10-15 minutes, stir a couple of times, and serve hot.
