How to make Idli Upma
Don't waste your food. Here is a quick and easy recipe you could do with the dried idlis you dread. Scrumptious and light, it could be served as a snack or a light supper.

Ingredients of Idli Upma
- 5 leftover idlis
- 3 tsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp split urad dal
- 1/4 tsp split channa dal
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 big onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt
How to Make Idli Upma

Crumble idlis by hand till they break down to small pieces.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel. Splutter mustard, urad, channa dal, red chillies and curry leaves in the said order on a low heat.

Once the mustard seeds have spluttered and the urad dal turns a healthy golden color, add onion and turmeric powder for a nice color.

Once the onions caramelize a bit, mix in the idlis and salt as per taste. (Remember the idlis already have salt, so be careful while adding more).

Note: You can add vegetables of your choice if desired.
