Ingredients of Macchi ke Sooley

  • 1 kg surmai steaks (Haddock)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • Burnt garlic
  • Burnt onions
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp dry ginger powder
  • Coriander leaves
  • Lemon juice
  • Ghee
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 3 - 4 green chillies

How to Make Macchi ke Sooley

  • 1.Preheat the oven
  • 2.In a pan, dry roast the cumin seeds and the coriander seeds and then pound in a mortar and pestle.
  • 3.Add burnt garlic and burnt onion and grind further.
  • 4.Add turmeric powder, red chilly powder, sea salt, dry ginger powder, dry mango powder, 3 - 4 green chillies, chopped coriander stems, lemon juice, clarified butter, water and grind further till it becomes a fine paste.
  • 5.Marinate the fish in this paste.
  • 6.In a roasting pan, put a spoon of clarified butter and brush the bottom of the roasting tin
  • 7.Place the fish side by side, and put it in a pre heated oven of 160 degrees for 10 minutes till its nice and crispy from outside.
  • 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and lime juice and serve hot.
