Crisp roasted pork belly mingled in a apple-onion sauce.

Ingredients of Roast Pork Belly

  • For Roast Pork Belly:
  • 1 kg pork belly
  • 2 tsp shaahi jeera (Cumin seeds)
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 apples (roughly sliced)
  • 1 onion (roughly sliced)
  • Fennel seeds
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper
  • For Roast Vegetables with Honey and Sesame Seeds:
  • 2 potatoes (parboiled)
  • 1 radish (Cut into chunks)
  • 1 carrot (cut into chunks)
  • 25 gms butter
  • 3 tsp olive oil
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 50 gms sesame seeds

How to Make Roast Pork Belly

  • For Roast Pork Belly:
  • 1.Take the pork belly, and add olive oil, shahi jeera, salt, pepper.
  • 2.Layer the baking tray with chunks of apples and onions.
  • 3.Place the pork on top of the apple and onion layer.
  • 4.Sprinkle fennel seeds and salt on top of the pork belly.
  • 5.Carefully pour hot water into the baking dish, avoiding any contact with the top skin of pork belly.
  • 6.Place the pork into the oven which has been preheated at 250°C.
  • 7.Bring the temperature down to 220°C and roast the pork for 20 minutes.
  • 8.After 20 minutes, bring the temperature further down to 180°C and roast the pork for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 9.When the pork is done, take it out of the oven and drain the remaining pork fat in a separate bowl.
  • 10.Place the meat on a plate.
  • 11.Transfer the left over apples, onions, water and fat into a pan and place it on heat.
  • 12.Add water, butter and bring the sauce to boil.
  • 13.Add salt, pepper and cinnamon.
  • 14.When the mixture boils remove from high heat and let it simmer till it reaches a good consistency.
  • 15.Sieve the sauce in a bowl.
  • 16.Reduce the sauce further by heating it for another 2 minutes to get the desired consistency.
  • For Roast Vegetables with Honey and Sesame Seeds:
  • 1.On a baking tray place radish, carrot, potatoes.
  • 2.Mix butter, olive oil, salt and pepper to make the marinate.
  • 3.Apply that marinate on the vegetables using a brush.
  • 4.Add rosemary and thyme to the vegetables.
  • 5.Add small strings of honey all over the vegetables.
  • 6.Bake in the oven at 200°C for 10 minutes.
  • 7.Meanwhile toast some sesame seeds in a pan.
  • 8.Take the vegetables out of the oven and add the roasted sesame seeds to them.
  • 9.Roast the vegetables at 200°C for half an hour.
  • 10.To Serve: Serve the pork belly, roast vegetables with honey and sesame seeds along with some apple sauce.
