How to make rugda mushroom

Rugda mushrooms or puttu as they are called in the local language is a kind of mushroom found in the eastern state of Jharkhand. The best part is that anyone can cook these mushrooms easily and with minimum ingredients.

Ingredients of Rugda Curry

  • 500 gms Rugda mushroom
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 1/2 cup Sliced onions
  • 1/2 cup Chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt as required
  • 1/2 tsp Haldi powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Dhaniya powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala

How to Make Rugda Curry

Cut rugda in half and clean it properly, then slightly sautee in a pan in a tbsp of oil.

Remove rugda and in the same pan heat the remaining oil. Add jeera, sliced onion and cook till onions are translucent.

Add ginger-garlic paste and cook till the raw smell of ginger-garlic is gone.

Now add haldi, red chilli powder, dhaniya powder and some water so all the masala sticks together.

Add tomatoes and salt and cook till tomatoes are mushy.

Add the rugda and mix everything together.

Add 1 cup water and let it cook for another 5 mins or until you have your desired consistency.

Last step is to add garam masala, chopped coriander and chopped chillies for garnishing.

Stir and cover this for 2 mins and your rugda curry is ready.
