Defence Colony houses some popular eating and drinking haunts; but Ek Bar still steals the entire crowd. Located conveniently on the main road of Defence Colony, opposite Lajpat Nagar, it is hard to miss with its snazzy exteriors. Its cosy interiors, plush ambience, lively music, good drinks and food offerings are, of course, other reasons it has always been among the most visited bar cum restaurant of the city. For years, it has been one of the most happening places around, and with its renewed offerings, it is going to be even better!
The new menu curated by chef Ruchira Hoon brings together the regional flavours from different parts of the country. It promotes the use of local ingredients, adding freshness and healthfulness to the menu. An array of unconventional cocktails complements the delicious food perfectly. The regionally-inspired menu is a must-try; we tried it and here's what we think of it.
The expansive bar at Ek Bar stashed some of the finest liquors and wines from across the world. If you are looking to unwind after a tiring day, this place is sure to help you do that. From the host of signature cocktail, we tried Anaar-kali, Angrezi Whiskey Soda and Co-org Colada and these lip-smacking set off our visit there in the perfect way.
From the Bar Snacks menu, we first tasted Crispy Lotus Stems Sticks with garlic dip, which was not really crispy. All the starters that we ordered after just lifted up our mood. Sumac-spiced Paneer & Walnut Kebabs gave the right crunch and sweetness. Jackfruit And Yam Galouti served with pineapple sauce and mint sauce is the perfect dish to pair your drinks with. It had the right amount of softness and was full of enticing flavours. Chicken lovers must try their Tandoori Chicken Soft Tacos and Pesto Chicken Tikka.
For the mains, we went for Khurchan Mushroom Pulao, which was a tangy rendition of the popular rice dish. It was refreshing and appetising. Coastal Pink Pepper Mutton Fry with Malabar Paratha was a good dish, though we missed the real feel of the south Indian Malabar paratha. We rounded up our lavish meal with a yummy dessert that you all must try. Saffron and Coconut Tres Leches Cake was just what we needed to end our journey on a sweet and happy note.
