Crisp mirch pakodas stuffed with a potato filling make for a great snack. Sip on some chai and munch on these crunchy delights.

Ingredients

  • 4 green chillies (moti mirch), slit and deseeded
  • Oil for deep frying

  • For the batter:
  • 1 cup besan/ gram flour
  • Cold water (colder the water, crispier the pakodas)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • Salt to taste

  • For the filling:
  • 1 potato, boiled and mashed
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp zeera/ cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Method

  1. In a bowl mix all the filling ingredients.
  2. In another bowl mix all the batter ingredients. Adjust the water amount keeping the consistency medium-thick. Batter should not be too runny.
  3. Fill the de-seeded chillies with the prepared filling. Dip in the batter and deep fry till golden and crisp.
  4. Serve with pudhina-dhania chutney or saunth.
