The national capital reported 284 new dengue cases in the last one week, taking the total number to 771, according to civic bodies. According to new estimates, the new cases of chikungunya recorded in the last one week is 184, with the total figure standing at 560.
The national capital has witnessed four deaths so far due to dengue while no death has been recorded due to chikungunya so far. Areas of south Delhi has witnessed the highest dengue cases at 138.
"The highest number of chikungunya cases recorded is also in the areas of South Delhi Municipal Corporation with 63 cases while the areas of North Delhi Municipal Corporation has recorded 48 cases," said an official statement.
Looking at the rising figure of the vector borne cases, the Cabinet Secretary has also directed the health authorities at the central and state government and municipal corporations level to increase more public awareness, so that the disease can be prevented, and availability of medicines ensured.
