The national award winning film Baahubali: The Beginning is back with its second installment, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film hits the cinemas today, and the fans are going crazy in excitement. The franchise has not only created a special place for itself in people’s heart, but also broken and created many box office records. Baahubali: The beginning earned a whopping 600 crores on the domestic shores itself, and also went on to be one of the highest grossing films on the international front of all times from India. SS Rajamouli’s dream project had all the essentials of a blockbuster, a fairy tale backdrop, peppy songs, high on adrenaline action scenes and royal characters. We’ve hooted each time Prabhas rode the horse or engaged in breathtaking sword fights with Rana Dagubatti. One would expect a spectacular war film to be an out an out male drama, with women merely used as props only, but such was not the case with Baahubali, be it the de-glam, intensely dramatic portrayal of a tormented widow by Anushka Shetty, or the guerella warfare and jaw dropping stunts by Tamannaah Bhatia. Here’s how the actors of Baahubali 2 geared up for their larger than life characters for the franchise.
Prabhas garnered several accolades for his built and excellent portrayal of the character of Amarendra Baahubali. The journey to build his body wasn’t an easy ride for the actor either. Prabhas apparently consumed 40 egg whites daily as part of his breakfast to bulk up for the role. The six feet two inches tall actor gained a whopping 20 kilos for his part as Amarendra Baahubali. His typical diet consisted of fish, egg whites, vegetables and almonds. The actor took a meal every two hours, and had a total of six meals everyday. His diet does not include rice. The total calorie intake of Prabhas while shooting for Baahubali was between 2000 to 4000 calories a day! One would expect that for such massive body transformation, the South sensation would seek help from foreign trainers, but Prabhas didn’t call a foreign trainer to train him for the part, but continued to work out with his local trainer. However, Prabhas did visit US where he interacted with the wrestlers of WWE to understand their extensive training regimen and imbibed them in his workout. He also got gymming equipments worth 1.5 crores imported to his place, to beef up for the part.(Also read: Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion: Prabhas' Incredible Fitness Regime for the Movie)
His rival on the other hand Bhallala Deva, the merciless king of Mahishmati, excellently portrayed by, Rana Daggubati, had his own inspiring journey to beef up for his part. He actor put on 25 kilos for his role as Bhallala Deva, and lost them all for his role as a lean naval officer in Ghazi-Attack, which released last year, as soon has he wrapped up shooting for Ghazi the actor hit the gym in preparation to reprise his beastly role, as the cruel king of Mahishmati. Rana worked out rigourously with his personal trainer Kunal Gir in Hyderabad, with whom the actor has been associated for eight years in a row. Apart from loading on high protein food, Rana was also making sure to keep up his intake of carbs, to ensure he is both muscular and bulky. Rana made sure he kept away from sweets, Rana doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth anyway so that wasn’t a tough feat for the actor. Mornings for the actor were dedicated to a solid cardio workout in the gym for about an hour. After pack-up in the evenings, Rana would again plunge into a two-hour workout with his trainer Kunal Gir. The regular workout mostly included lifting hardcore weights. Rana has been a boxer in his high-school and college, so he likes to mix in a bit of boxing in his regular regimen too.(Also read: The Ghazi Attack Actor Rana Daggubati's Diet And Fitness Tips to Get in Shape)
