Monsoon is upon us; meaning it is time to celebrate a range of festivals. One of the most popular festivals during the season is Sawan (or Shravana) festival. Needless to say, the festival is marked annually in the month of Shravana, as per the Hindu calendar; and hence, it is referred to as Sawan. It is a month-long festival that started on July 14, 2022 and will last till August 12, 2022. Hindus from different parts of India dedicate this month to worship Lord Shiva. Several devotees go on 'Kanwar Yatra' and bring back water from Holy rivers and offer it to their beloved deity. Besides, people observe fast throughout the month and only indulge in light sattvik bhojan. They avoid non-veg, alcohol etc during this time of the year.
