Midnight in ParisThere is something about Woody Allen and his ability to create infallibly charming movies that go beyond the Oscars. Set amidst the lush and the absolutely gorgeous backdrop of Paris, the movie tells the story of Gil, struggling with his first novel, who falls in love with the city for its sheer beauty and the inspiration it offers, and his fiancee Inez, who couldn't be bothered about his romantic notions about Paris. Walking on the streets on Paris alone, one night, Gil encounters some strangers who transport him back to the 1920s, the golden era according to him, where he meets his favorite writers, artists, musicians and lives his dream. Midnight in Paris brings back movie magic with its stunning architectural details, seamless recreation of older time periods and by blending fantasy with realism. Although the movie doesn't come close to being extraordinary, it does provide an excellent and a rare kind of entertainment, which makes it truly remarkable in its own right.
