Based on the best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett, The Help, set in the Civil Rights era, tells the story of southern society girl who decides to write a book about black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent white women and their families. Exposing concerns and hardships, this story beautifully explores the themes of courage, friendship, facing your fears and sisterhood. Although the movie has some important things to say, it plays it pretty safe by not offending anyone watching the movie. The serious subject in the movie is handled rather well by balancing it out with lighthearted humour and heartfelt scenes. The Help strokes a range of emotions; it has an excellent cast who deliver powerful performances and captures your heart, one way or another.
