According to Nutritionist Mehar Rajput from FITPASS, "The main reason of high coffee consumption is due to its high caffeine content that makes an individual addicted to it. It also absolutely depends on how an individual's body reacts to caffeine. It may be determined in part by how much caffeine the person is used to drinking. People who don't regularly drink caffeine may be more sensitive to its negative impact on the health. Other factors may include genetics, body mass, age, medication use and health conditions like anxiety disorders."
How Much Coffee Per Day is Enough?
As per Nutritionist Mehar, ideally, for a healthy person who may not be sensitive to caffeine may consume up to three cups of coffee per day. Up to 300 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day is considered safe for most healthy adults. Approximately, a cup of coffee contains 95-100 milligrams of caffeine. So, that's roughly the amount of caffeine in four cups of brewed coffee.Nutritionist and Macrobiotic Health Coach says, "Two cups of coffee per day is good for health. More consumption of coffee causes acidity and dehydration. It should be avoided by hypertension patients as it causes anxiety, further leading to high blood pressure. Side Effects of Coffee
The more coffee you drink, the more you consume caffeine. Ingesting too much caffeine in a day may cause symptoms that may include restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, irritability, unstable heartbeat, anxiety and an upset stomach. As soon as you experience such symptoms, there may be a chance that you are sensitive to too much caffeine intake and should immediately cut down on the number of cups per day. In case, these symptoms do not reduce, refer to the doctor.
If you are planning to decrease the number of cups of coffee per day, there might be a chance of experiencing some side effects, which may include; withdrawal symptoms, such as headaches, fatigue, irritability and difficulty focusing on tasks. Fortunately, these symptoms are usually mild and resolve after a few days.
Moderation is the key, hence, it is imperative to cut down on too much intake of caffeine in your body.
