The weekend is here and we cannot wait to just sit, relax and unwind. After a whirlwind of a week that was, we surely deserve this break now, don't we? A lot of us tend to let go all our healthy dietary practices and indulge to our heart's content on weekends. You must indulge every once in a while, but if you are on a specific diet to lose weight- it is advisable to be a little cautious and not start bingeing into all things sugary, fried and fattening. That would just undo all your efforts so far. Wondering how to resist temptations, and eat clean while everybody else around you is on a gluttonous spree? We have got you covered!
Here are some tips that may help you eat clean, smart and right during the weekends too!
1. Don't reach a party starving
If you have plans of partying out this weekend, or you are planning to go to a family gathering, make sure you tuck into something filling before you leave home. It could be anything from a sandwich to a granola bar. If you head out on an empty stomach, you are more likely to pick up any snack that comes your way, and even indulge a bit too much than you would generally. This may disturb your recommended calorie intake for the day.
2. Make wise choices whilst picking snacks at a gathering
A huge component of a weight loss diet is making wise choices. Ditch deep-fried and processed snacks and opt for tikkas or roasted goods. Since they are not laden in oil, they save you many calories.
3. Try to eat most of your food at home
It is always a good idea to eat most of your food at home on weekends. Cooking at home will help you keep a tab on the kinds of ingredients used and the number of calories consumed. You can always swap unhealthy, refined goods with nutritional, whole goods. Whole grain flour, cereals, pasta, is anyday a better bet than refined flour and cereals.
4. Kickstart your day with lemon, water and honey detox
As you wake up, sip into the miracle potion of lemon water, mixed with a teaspoon of honey. This tonic helps flush out all toxins from the body and also kick-start your metabolism. A faster metabolism is linked to faster weight loss.
5. Make your brunches healthy, green and nutty
A quiet, lazy brunch is one of our most favourite things about weekends. Now, nobody said your brunches need to be about greasy kachoris and puri aloo only. You can always give your brunch a healthy spin, by including fresh green salads, granola, egg frittatas and more!
