Your diet needs alteration depending upon the season. Do you agree? There are plenty of seasonal fruits and you must have them all happily. Apart from looking bright and gorgeous, these yummy treats also carry a bunch of health benefits. One such fruit happens to be plum. Also known as Aloo Bukhara, this beautiful fruit comes from the Rosacea family. You can obviously eat it raw while discarding the seed. But many people also prepare drool-worthy cakes, pickles, jam and other desserts using this pulpy fruit. However, apart from its high nutritive value, there's one more lesser-known health benefit that would compel you to indulge in plums. Do you know what? Nutritionist Lovneet Batra shared that plum is great for your skin. She posted a video on Instagram elaborating more on the same.
In the caption, she wrote, "Monsoon is right around the corner which brings its own share of skincare troubles. Have you ever had an increase in acne breakout, rashes, clogged skin pores or oiliness during the rainy season?" So, she stated, "What's best is to include plum in your diet that not only can help you deal well with skin issues but can give a great looking skin in more than one way."
Lovneet Batra shared the following health benefits of plum:
1. Treats acne
You may not be aware of this but plum is great food and can help you in fighting off acne and reduce its scars as well. Its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties work wonders for your skin. Plum help in removing the excess oil from your skin.
2. Reduces the signs of ageing
It's believed that collagen deficiency in the skin can make it appear dull and lifeless. Plum, which contains a high amount of vitamin C, is required for the production of hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine. These are needed to bind the molecules that produce collagen. This rejuvenates the skin from the roots and reduces wrinkles and other signs of aging.
3. Protects skin from sun damage
It's always advised to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays of the sun since it can cause damage to your skin when you are exposed to the sun rays for a prolonged duration. Plums, as a fruit, have high amounts of antioxidants along with vitamin C and E that provide an effective shield against sun rays and reduce sun damage.
