We all love surprises, but receiving them repeatedly can be mysterious (and confusing) at times. Recently, residents in a Los Angeles neighbourhood experienced such a situation. According to reports, they received unnamed (and unwanted) food deliveries since February. The Los Angeles Times reported that residents near Range View Avenue in the Highland Park neighbourhood received deliveries of "chicken sandwiches, milkshakes, pastries, lattes, and more" from Uber Eats, despite not placing any orders.
The report in the LA Times further stated that some residents received more than one delivery a day and that there is no information about the sender. The residents are unsure if this is spam or a prank. "The items, residents said, have mostly come from McDonald's and Starbucks, though a few other fast-food chains have been represented, too," the report added.
According to a report on CBSNews, a resident named William Neil received three different orders within a span of five minutes, "two from the same driver," Neil William said. Another resident received 30 surprise deliveries, and a resident named Caroline Aguirre received eight or nine deliveries. "I have no idea where it's coming from," she added. The report further explained that the deliveries were in the names of other people, and the meals were paid for, sometimes along with a tip.

The LA Times report also mentioned that some residents happily ate the food, while others threw it away or donated it to local charities. "I don't trust it - I'm throwing it out. I don't know who's doing it. We were joking at first: It must be Elon Musk - I don't know who else could afford it," Dean Sao, a resident, told the outlet.
In response to the incident, an Uber spokesperson said that the company has launched an investigation to find the source of the unwanted orders. According to Fox Business, Uber has already taken action against several accounts.
