The world of social media comes with a drawback that celebrities have to face their own share of controversies and debates. We often see how celebrities draw the ire of internet users for various reasons including the kind of food they eat. Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna recently found herself in a similar situation. The star featured in an advertisement for a popular burger brand, and she was promoting a spicy chicken burger in it. Fans quickly pointed out that Mandanna herself was a vegetarian. The advertisement for the chicken burger was shared on the official handle of Rashmika Mandanna as well as the fast food brand. Social media users were quick to point out that Mandanna had given several interviews in the past where she claimed she is a vegetarian. In fact, they revealed that she is even the brand ambassador and investor of a vegan beauty brand. Thus, the fact that she was promoting a chicken burger did not sit down well with her fans. Several took to Twitter and Instagram to share their ire on this issue. Take a look:

Content creator Garima Kumar also pointed out that post the controversy, the comments on the advertisement had been disabled.
A couple of users defended Rashmika Mandanna as well. They said that it was just an advertisement and it did not imply that she was a non-vegetarian in real life too. "She is only endorsing junk food, she didn't ask us to go and eat. It's ultimately our choice. Similarly, it's their choice which advertisement they want to do," wrote one user.
This is not the only food advertisement featuring a celebrity to have stirred up a debate. In August 2022, Hrithik Roshan too starred in a Zomato ad which was later withdrawn and an apology was issued. Click here to read more about it.
