When it comes to food, there are certain statements which are considered almost universal truths. For instance, almost everyone is believed to have an affinity for coffee. Cheese tends to make nearly every dish more indulgent and delicious. However, there is a certain section of people which seems to disagree with these opinions. In a recent Twitter thread, users discussed some of the most controversial food opinions that they believed to be true. It all started with a tweet by author Damon Young, who asked his followers to share their most genuinely controversial food opinions. Take a look:
Tell me your most genuinely controversial food opinion.
I'll start: mayonnaise typically makes everything worse.— Damon Young (@damonayoung) August 11, 2021
Twitter user Damon Young started by saying his most controversial food opinion, "Mayonnaise typically makes everything worse." Others too started sharing their responses and some of them were quite unexpected. People confessed their hatred for vegetables such as pumpkins, eggplant, beetroots and even raw tomatoes when put on sandwiches. A few others took a dig at avocados and mangoes.
Fresh produce wasn't the only food mentioned in the Twitter thread about controversial food opinions. People took a dig at popular dishes and desserts too - such as Tacos and Tiramisu. Someone also opined that sandwiches were overrated and too much hassle to make. Even pizza was referred to as 'bread with greasy toppings' by one user, much to the Twitter user's astonishment.

No food should contain lemon or lemon flavoring. That includes seafood. That includes cookies and pies. Ditto for orange, lime and any other citrus. They are fine in a beverage, but NOT IN MY FOOD. On a related note, no fruit/chocolate dessert combos.— Sara R (@raisinsaretrash) August 12, 2021

Green bell peppers taste offensive and take over everything they're added to. Red, purple, yellow…all fine! Just hold the green ones (agree about mayo, they could ban it, I'd celebrate)— Alex Skolnick (@AlexSkolnick) August 11, 2021
