How to make Bhakarwadi
A traditional Maharashtrian snack made of soft dough rolled out and filled with the goodness of aromatic seeds and flavourful spices, fried crisp and golden.

Ingredients of Bhakarwadi
- For cover:
- 3 cups maida
- 1/2 cup besan
- 1 1/2 Tbsp oil
- Salt
- For filling:
- 1 Tbsp besan
- 1 tsp sesame
- 1 tsp khuskhus seeds
- 1 tsp ginger - grated
- 1 tsp garlic - grated
- 1 1/2 tsp sugar
- 3 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Salt
- 1 tsp coriander seeds - crushed coarsely
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds - crushed coarsely
- 1 Tbsp dried coconut - grated
- 1/2 cup fine sev
- Oil
How to Make Bhakarwadi
HideShow MediaFor the dough:

Mix together besan, maida, salt and oil. Add a little water, and knead into a smooth dough. Cover with a moist cloth.
For the filling:
1.
Roast some sesame and couscous seeds.

Crush poppy seeds, fennel seeds and coriander seeds, keep aside. Heat oil, add cumin and allow to splutter.

Add ginger, garlic and fry for a few seconds. Add all other crushed seeds.

Add coconut, sev, masalas, salt, sugar and besan. Mix well and keep aside.
5.
Take a lump of dough and roll into thin chapatti. Spread the filling all over the chapatti.

Make a tight roll and press down the edges. Cut into 1 inch pieces and deep fry in hot oil.
7.
Fry till cover is crisp and golden brown. Drain, let it cool before storing in airtight containers.
