Ingredients of Bihari-Style Prawn Curry

  • 400 gms prawns
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp haldi
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 3 tsp yogurt
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • Salt, to taste
  • Coriander leaves, for garnishing

How to Make Bihari-Style Prawn Curry

Start by deveining and cleaning the prawns. Marinate them with haldi and salt and keep them aside.

Now heat mustard oil in a pan and add bay leaves, cardamom, and cinnamon sticks. Give it a nice mix, and then add the chopped onions.

Saute until they turn golden brown in colour. After this, add the ginger-garlic paste, followed by all the dry masalas and tomatoes. Cook for 5–6 minutes.

Next, add the yoghurt and cook again for a few minutes. Finally, add the marinated prawns and cook until the oil separates.

Add water, and cover the pan with a lid. Simmer on low heat for around 10 minutes, and then serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
