Ingredients of Boorelu (Deep Fried Sweet Dumplings)

  • 200 gm channa dal
  • 50 gm grated coconut
  • 05 gm cardamom
  • 200 gm sugar
  • For the batter:
  • 100 gm urad dal
  • 150 gm rice
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee for deep frying

How to Make Boorelu (Deep Fried Sweet Dumplings)

Soak the urad dal and rice together for 2 hours and grind them to a fine paste adding enough water to make a thick batter.

Leave to ferment overnight in a warm place. Cook the channa dal with 2 cups of water.

Boil until all the water has been absorbed.
4.
Add the sugar and coconut to the dal and cook on a low flame until the mixture is thick.
5.
Remove from flame and add cardamom powder and mash.
6.
Divide the mixture into small balls.
7.
Dip each ball in the prepared batter, make sure to coat it evenly.
8.
Deep fry dumplings until golden and serve warm.
