Ingredients of Bungeoppang

  • 1/2 Cup plain flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder, sifted
  • Pinch of fine sea salt
  • 1/3 Cup milk or water
  • 11/2 Tbsp castor sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp melted butter (for batter)
  • 1/2 egg
  • 1/2 Tbsp melted butter (for cooking)
  • 1/2 Tbsp sweetened red bean paste/custard/chocolate/Nutella

How to Make Bungeoppang

In a medium-sized bowl, combine plain flour, baking powder, fine sea salt, milk or water, castor sugar, melted butter and egg. Mix everything well.

Shift this mixture into a jug from which you can pour easily.

Preheat a bungeoppang pan over medium-low heat and brush it with melted butter.
4.
Pour the batter onto the bungeoppang pan and fill it halfway.
5.
Add your filling and then add more batter on it to cover the fish mould.
6.
Close the pan and turn it over. Cook both sides for about 2 minutes each until the pastry turns golden brown.
7.
Remove the pastry from the pan and let it cool down briefly before serving.
