Ingredients of Chicken Lapeta

  • To marinate Chicken
  • 1 kg Chicken
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds Powder
  • 3/4 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek powder
  • 1/2 cup Curd Salt
  • To Make Cashew Coconut Paste
  • 3 Green Chillies (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Coriander Leaves
  • 15 Cashew Nuts
  • 1/2 cup Dry coconut (roasted )
  • To Make Gravy
  • 2-3 tbsp Oil
  • 4 Green Cardamon
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 3 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 3 Tomato (puréed)
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seed Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds powder
  • Cashew Coconut Paste
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/4 cup Cream
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Fried Chicken
  • Fenugreek Leaves
  • To Make egg lapeta
  • Oil
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt

How to Make Chicken Lapeta

Marinate the chicken in all the spices mentioned in the ingredient list for 30 minutes.

Put a kadhai on flame and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add cinnamon and cardamom and finely chopped onions. Sauté them till they are soft and translucent. Add salt, ginger paste, garlic paste and tomato puree.

Grind together the coconut paste using the ingredients mentioned in the paste list while the tomato puree cooks.

Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder to the tomato gravy and mix it. Then, add the coconut paste to the gravy and mix evenly. Now add water to create a gravy-like consistency. Keep this aside.

Take a pan and fry the marinated chicken in it. Once the chicken is fried, put it in the gravy and let it cook slowly.

Whisk one egg with salt and make two thin omelettes in a pan. Cut thin strips of the omelette and roll the strips.

Add cream and coriander to the chicken gravy, mix well. Garnish the chicken with the rolled egg strips by placing them in between chicken pieces. Chicken lapeta is ready!
