About Fish Salan Recipe: Marinated pieces of king fish cooked in a tangy tomato puree. Fish salan is a delicious pick to prepare for dinner along with some cooked rice. With the perfect balance of spices and chillies along with the tangy saunth marinade, Fish salan is a tasty meal to relish.

Ingredients of Fish Salan

  • 1 Large king fish
  • 1/2 kg ripe tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp desi ghee
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • For the Marinade:
  • 1 tbsp saunth
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp fennel powder
  • 1/2 tbsp refined oil
  • Salt
  • Water

How to Make Fish Salan

  • 1.Cut king fish into equal size pieces. Marinate with fennel powder, saunth, turmeric powder, refined oil and salt for 10- 15 minutes.
  • 2.Blanch ripe tomatoes. Peel and blend them to make a thick puree.
  • 3.Heat desi ghee in a pan and add ginger-garlic paste. Once it turns brown, add chopped onions.
  • 4.Saute and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and the tomato puree. Saute for sometime. Add the marinated fish pieces, salt, water and garam masala.
  • 5.Cook it for some time, add black pepper powder and stir gently. Saute for some time and serve hot.
